Course Title:    Multi-Cultural Ministry

Course Description:

 

This course will serve as the Graduate student's mechanism for researching international and national trends within varying demographic and ethnic groups to determine needed areas of concentration for the 21st century church. It will provide a multi-cultural approach to the effective development of a model church that will, from a biblical basis; focus specifically on the multi-faceted needs of all the congregants it will serve.

 

Course Requirements:

 

1.      Active participation in weekly group meetings. Each Graduate student will meet weekly to discuss required reading and assignments. These meetings are mandatory.

 

2.      Meet required attendance policy. This is an independent study course for Masters/Doctoral students that requires regular weekly attendance at group meetings. These meetings will be held for no less than 2 hours weekly. Each student is required to miss no more than 2 sessions throughout the semester.If you are an online student the attendance requirement will be waived

 

3.      Attend required meetings under instructor's Doctoral oversight. All students are required to participate in group meetings with the instructor to discuss required reading, implications for the Multi-Cultural Church, and to further provide status reports on all research and assignments. If you are an online student the attendance requirement will be waived

 

4.      Research and program development. Students will collectively research and develop a "Framework for Developing the Benevolent Multi-Cultural Church." Students will organize and discuss their systematic approach to this assignment in their weekly meetings.

 

5.      Final presentation. Students will present final research findings and recommendations for the effective Multi-Cultural Church as a group to the instructor and/or her designated audience. This presentation may consist of, but not be limited to, a Manual for the Development of the Benevolent Multi-Cultural Church; a formal power point presentation to include research findings and recommendations, and/or a research paper concluding various areas of the project assignment. Online students will conduct a video of them doing the presentation and submit on DVD.

 Course Goals

 

1.      Students will read all required material relative to identifying the needs and meeting the demands of the effective Multi-Cultural Church in the 21st century.

 

2.      Students will engage in comprehensive, group research to determine the demographic needs of the various ethnic groups the church will serve.

 

3.      Students will participate in regular weekly meetings to discuss all findings and to review progression of assignments.

 

4.      Using the Bible as the foundation for all recommendations and framework development, students will provide written documentation of their proposal for the development of the "Benevolent Multi-Cultural Church in the 21st Century."

Assignment: Examine the concepts of Multi-Culture Changes and minimum 5 proposed challenges and give 5 hypotheses to resolve the problem.
